Risk Profile Questionnaire
FGS-RTQ-1.0
How do you feel about investment risk?
Twelve questions, about five minutes. There are no right answers — we are trying to understand how you personally feel about the ups and downs that come with investing, so that the portfolio we recommend is one you can live with in a bad year as well as a good one.
Answer as you feel today, not as you think you should feel. If you are investing as a couple, please complete a questionnaire each. We will talk through both sets of answers together.
Your details
Your risk profile
Here's how you scored. If it doesn't sound like you, tell your adviser — we'll talk it through at your meeting.
What this means
Indicative asset allocation
The mix below is the starting point for a portfolio at this profile. Your final portfolio also depends on your goals, timeframe and capacity to absorb a loss, so it may differ.
Your answers
Most people answer fairly consistently. Where one answer sits well away from the rest, it is marked for discussion — it usually means the question touched on something specific worth talking about.
How this score is calculated
Each option in each question carries a score from 0 to 100, spread evenly across the available choices. Your overall score is the average of your twelve answers, rounded to a whole number, and the 0–100 scale is divided into five profiles.
The score describes where you sit on this questionnaire's range. It is not a percentile and does not rank you against the wider population.
